Dear trusted colleagues,
This letter serves as notification that the Mississippi Home Saver Program, created through the Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF), will cease taking new applications on November 15th, 2023, and will be closed due to limited funding availability.
The Homeowner Assistance Fund was established under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to ease financial hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the Mississippi Home Corporation (MHC) was directed to administer the funding for the state of Mississippi under the Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF). The Home Saver Plus program was used for mortgage reinstatement, monthly payment assistance, and delinquent property taxes.
At this time, MHC has saved over 3,698 households from foreclosure and has provided $46 million in assistance to Mississippians affected by the pandemic. MHC has exhausted the monthly payment assistance program and currently has $12 million remaining for reinstatement and delinquent property taxes.
MHC will continue to process applications in the pipeline in the order that they were received. We encourage applicants to log in and check their status as it will be updated accordingly. Home Saver applications are first come, first serve while funds are available. To know options for maintaining homeownership, individuals may contact a local HUD-approved housing counseling agency at www.hud.gov/states/mississippi/homeownership.
